What is the Medicare CDBS?

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (Medicare CDBS)  is a program run by Medicare that helps kids and teens aged 2 to 17 get dental care. It gives up to $1095 every two years for certain dental services.

The dental gallery supports kids dental health. We fully participate in the CDBS program and offer no gap  treatment on all eligible treatment for kids covered by the medicare CDBS program.

At The Dental Gallery in Point Cook, as part of our child dental service all our dentists and oral health therapist, routinely check kids for jaw development, sleep breathing problems and discuss diet , in addition to examining their teeth and gum, when doing all kids dental check-ups including during Medicare CDBS funded check-ups.

Many kids maybe nervous about visiting a dentist, so we have provided some tips to help with visiting a dentist for the first time.

In addition Max, our dental therapy dog is always ready to help with his calming presence.

Medicare CDBS – Dentists & Oral Health Therapists

Our Medicare CDBS program involves our dentists and oral health therapist. Our Oral Health Therapists (OHTs) have more training than a Dental Oral Hygienist. OHTs undergo more comprehensive training, usually involving a dual qualification in dental hygiene and dental therapy, which can take up to four years.

This additional education allows them to take on expanded roles, particularly in children’s dentistry and some aspects of restorative care.

They are able to provide scaling, cleaning teeth, administer fluoride treatments, take x-rays and perform  fillings, extractions and stainless-steel crowns for children and adolescents.  Find out more about our Oral Health Thepaists (OHT).
