Early orthodontic treatment for your child, known as orthopaedics, can help guide the growth of the jaw to create sufficient space for adult teeth to emerge. This in turn will reduce the need for later extraction of otherwise perfect, healthy adult teeth.

At The Dental Gallery we find that children are very responsive to early treatment because their bones are still developing, making them easier to guide into the proper alignment. We recommend having your child’s bite assessed by the time they turn six to seven years of age, when the first stage of adult teeth have erupted.

Children who have orthopaedic treatment may still need braces, retainers or other appliances later, but orthopaedic treatment can often help reduce treatment time and the severity of future orthodontics.
